Anniversary

I almost forgot what today was
Till I caught the scent of your cologne on a passer-by.
The old pain rushed back so hard
It almost knocked me off my feet.
This time, only one tear fell.
I strained to see your face,
But the image wasn't as clear.
I can still hear your voice in my dreams,
But now the sound is fainter.
Last summer's bitter wine has grown sweeter.
Tonight I drank a glass
And threw the bottle away.
